Oklahoma State University, Langston University, St. Gregory's Junior College, and Oklahoma Baptist University are all within 50 miles of the community. The Central Area Vo-Tech and Meridian Technology Center are with 25 miles.

Cushing has one daily newspaper as well as one weekly paper. There is one local radio station and one cable provider (Sudden Link).

Cushing features a new Community and Youth Center, summer youth and adult programs, rodeo arena, baseball and softball.
Dodrill's Museum of Rocks, Minerals, and Fossils. The museum has also developed a "Cushing History" section.

Medical Facilities and Medical Practitioners
The Cushing area is home to one hospital that is licensed for 99 beds. The hospital has undergone a $15 million + remodeling and upgrade during the 2005 – 2006 period that has provided new surgery suites; the latest in diagnostic equipment; upgraded patient facilities; and a new and larger emergency room. Cimarron Healthcare Center is a new, state of the art, $4.7M medical facility offering an Urgent Care Center that is open daily, an outpatient surgery center and medical clinics. (www.cimarronhealthcare.com). The community has three medical clinics. There are two nursing homes with 130 beds, one of which has independent living apartments. Practicing in the Cushing area are 13 medical doctors, 5 osteopaths, 2 chiropractors, 3 dentists, 3 PA's, and one nurse practitioner. The Cushing Specialty Clinic has 10 medical specialists that visit the community on a regular schedule to provide additional services.
